Introduction

Sign up for our in person free trade education programme to learn how to internationalise your business.

If you had access to a £28.4 billion market, would you take the opportunity? In 2019, UK inbound plus UK domestic traveller spending was worth £120 billion, with UK inbound travellers spending £28.4 billion and UK domestic travellers spending £91.6 billion. But did you know only 9.8% of UK Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) focus on international audiences who, on average, spend three times more than the domestic traveller?

We would like to invite you to attend Taking England to the World, our free trade education programme designed to help your business reach new international markets. Developed as part of the Government’s Discover England Fund, it is created and delivered by industry experts.

Designed especially for tourism businesses in England, you’ll find out about preparing to work with the travel trade, including analysis of the key markets to England – providing valuable insights and research, as well as guidance on marketing, product development, distribution and partnerships. You’ll also be able to enjoy the flexibility of choosing between virtual or face-to-face sessions.

What do I get?

Free market-leading training, delivered by VisitEngland.

Understand how the export industry works and how your business can become international-ready.

Learn more about travel-distribution systems and how they can help you.

Who is the training for?

This trade education programme is designed for businesses from all sectors of the English tourism industry – including accommodation, tours and attractions. While particularly suitable for SMEs, larger organisations are also welcome to attend.

How are the sessions delivered?

There are two formats for the programme. You can attend face-to-face, which entails one full day from 9am to 5pm. Or, you can choose a virtual course – hosted across three consecutive weeks in two-hour sessions.

We will cover different topics during each session, so it’s in your best interests to attend the entire programme. This means one full day in-person, or all three sessions for the virtual option.

Please note, you may only register for one event. If registration is detected across multiple events you will be contacted to select your preferred option. Registration is also non-transferable without prior approval from the team.

What is the cost?

The programme is offered free of charge. At face-to-face sessions, lunch and refreshments are provided. Spaces are limited, and are offered on a first come, first served basis. Although the training is free, a £25 no-show fee applies if a registration has not been cancelled within five working days of the event, to cover costs.
